Anyone who knows me will tell you how much of a beauty junkie I am. Out of nowhere it seems that I grew slightly obsessed with buying every new foundation, palette, and highlighter that came out. With this being said, it’s equally as important to take care of what is under the makeup. Skincare is by far the most important part of any beauty regimen. With the first day of summer coming up in a few weeks, it’s important to make sure that you are prepared with a kick-ass summer skincare routine. I love the warmth and sun just as much as the next person, but it’s important you’re doing everything you can to protect your skin.
Before I delve into my summer skincare picks, I want to first mention that what works for me may not work for you. You know your skin better than anyone else, and before trying out new skincare products I’d highly recommend consulting with your dermatologist first (if you go to one). I am quite blessed in a sense because having naturally good skin runs in my family. I’ve never had any dire skin issues except for when I had eczema when I was younger- but I do have combination skin which can make shopping for beauty products quite difficult.
When talking about summer skincare products, it’s also important to talk about how sun damage can make a huge impact on your skin. I was the hard-headed teenager who never put on sunscreen- and to be honest I really didn’t think I needed to. I always figured since I have darker skin there’s no way I can get sun damage. Well…that’s a complete lie. Because of the sun exposure I’ve gotten over the years, I have gotten wrinkles and dark spots in certain areas of my face. While we all want to enjoy the summer and get as much sun as we can, it’s so so so important that you’re protecting your skin!
Dermatouch Hyaluronic Acid Oxygen Cleanser– No summer skincare routine can be complete without having a good face wash. I’ve been using this cleanser for about three months now and it has been working wonders. Because of my combination skin, certain parts of my face are super oily and other parts are super dry. During the summer, I love for my skin to have a bit of a healthy glow and this face wash does exactly that! Because of all the natural ingredients in this cleanser, it leaves your skin feeling smooth and refreshed. Hyaluronic Acid also helps even out your complexion!
LUSH Cosmetics “Cup O’ Coffee” Mask– THIS. MASK. IS. EVERYTHING. I’ve been using this for over a month and I have completely fallen in love with it. I could go on and on about LUSH products anyway, but I’m so happy that I finally tried this one out. This mask smells like straight up coffee, so if you’re not a fan of that smell then this isn’t for you. The sole purpose of my summer skincare routine is to achieve healthy, natural, and radiant skin. What I love about this product is that it is a cross between a mask and a scrub, and you can use this all over the body! One of the ingredients Kaolin deeply cleanses the skin, while the ground coffee buffs away any dryness you may have to leave you with glowing skin!
Elizabeth Arden Hydrating Mask (Linked a similar option)- This has been a staple in my summer skincare routine. My mom swears by Elizabeth Arden products and got me hooked on this mask. I’m so sad that this is no longer being sold in stores, but I’ve also been using a newer mask of hers that does the same things! I only use this mask at night, but it really has helped bring some moisture to the dry areas of my face!
Neutrogena Oil-Free Moisture– The key to any summer skincare routine is finding a good moisturizer with SPF in it. Do not make the mistake of spending a day out in the sun without having SPF protection! Sun damage is the cause of many skin problems, so you want to make sure that you are MARINATING in this stuff! I have acquired many dark spots and wrinkles on my face because of sun damage, so I make sure not to leave my house without applying some SPF! This little ingredient is the key to younger looking skin, so if you don’t want to start aging too fast, then go pick some of this stuff up (It’s also recommended that you regularly use a sunscreen with a broad spectrum SPF value of 15 or higher).
Eucerin Original Healing Creme– When I was younger I had really bad eczema, so my doctor recommended that I start applying Eucerin Creme twice a day- and I haven’t used another moisturizer since! This is definitely a heavy creme that applies very thick on the face, so if that’s not something you like then this isn’t for you! I love this creme because it is so hydrating on the skin, and kid you not, this product has cleared up a lot of my skin problems. I don’t use this twice a day anymore, but I make sure to put this on before I go to bed.
Dove Deep Moisture Body Wash– Summer skincare includes the entire body! Not only do you want your face looking radiant, but you also want the whole body to reflect that as well! Because of my eczema when I was younger, I couldn’t use any other soap besides Dove. I had never tried the body wash before, but I had heard great things about it. This stuff works magic! The best part? It’s less than $6!
Wow, that was a lot and I apologize. I hope that you all found this post helpful and you’ve found some products to add into your skincare routine. What are your go-to products for your summer skincare routine? I’m always up to try anything!
