Every year I always attempt to make new year’s resolutions, and by the time February rolls around I’ve usually forgotten what I originally set out to do. For some odd reason, I feel like 2018 is going to be my come up year, so to take the pressure off of myself I decided to make this the year of no resolutions. Instead of making these unattainable resolutions, this year I’m putting my focus towards accomplishing goals.
Setting goals for yourself doesn’t always have to include a long list of things you want to accomplish. It can be as simple as looking at one thing that you’d like to complete by the end of the year and sticking with it. Sometimes it’s easy to get lost in the day-to-day of life, and setting goals allows you to have something to look forward to.
So what are my 2018 goals exactly? Overall, I want this to be the year of me clearly defining what makes me happy and ridding my life of the things that don’t. I’ve spent so many years living for other people, and I’ve finally come to a place where I’m beginning to put myself first. My 2018 goal is to be my happiest and healthiest self physically, spiritually and emotionally.
While putting myself first, I am going to take this year day by day. Instead of setting these unrealistic expectations and making a long list of resolutions, I’m just going to start with simply waking up and choosing happiness. I’m going to set my eyes on being a better daughter, sister, friend, cousin, aunt and everything in between. And above all else, I want to continue to grow in my faith: praying more, fasting more, studying more and trusting God more.
